Credit Reports
Tips to help build better credit reports.
*Always check credit reports for incorrect information and possible fraud.
Correct any information that is not correct.
* Don't constantly apply for Store Cards at department stores.
Applying for credit cards at every department store when there are sales could reduce credit scores. Just use a credit card you already have that has low
interest rates. Pay off the charge as soon as possible.
* Only use 30% or less of the credit limit on credit cards.
When consumers exceed or use more than 30 percent of their credit limit scores can be lowered.
* Don't close credit card accounts, stop using high interest rate cards.
Closing credit card accounts may have a negative effect if good history credit card accounts are closed. Keep that good history for better credit scores.
* Try to eliminate debts without debt settlement.
The lender may report this and it can have a negative effect on credit reports.
* Don't miss or skip debt payments.
When this happens it has a negative effect and lowers credit report scores.
*Work hard to pay more than the minimum amount due on credit cards.
Always pay the balance off in full every month or pay more than the minimum due.
