Tips To Stop Christmas Debts
1. Make homemade candies, cards, and crafts for family and friends for Christmas gifts. Many adults don't have time to cook but love getting homemade goodies.
2. Don't shop without a Christmas gift list, a couple of gift ideas by each name, and a set spending limit for each gift. Keep the list with you and don't go over the budget amount for each gift.
3. Don't shop hungry, you will spend more money, and waste your time eating out. Try to shop alone and get it done quickly.
4. Check out all the sale ads, look for items on sale and write them on the list, and go get them. Mark them off the list and be proud you accomplished it. Wait for some items to go on sale if you can, if you can't reconsider the gift idea.
5. Don't wait until the last minute to shop, start months in advance to have time for sales. If you are a last minute shopper, enjoy the hustle and make the best of it. You may be able to get great gifts that have really gone on sale.
6. Have fun, plan family fun activities, get everyone involved with making gift items. Put together picture albums to give as gifts, tins of cookies, or create coupons for gifts - like "One Free Baby Sitting Night" - the ideas are unlimited.
7. Share baby sitting with a friend instead of paying for child care while you shop. Take turns keeping each other's kids. Keeping kids at home instead of taking them shopping can save you time and money that is many times needed to entertain them.
8. Look online for items that can be ordered and with companies that offer free shipping. Have items shipped for you to out of town family.
9. Consider only buying gifts for infants and kids up to age 18 years old. For adults have fellowship, a night of desserts and coffee, hot chocolate, or Christmas Cheer.
10. Don't forget to check organizations in the community or churches to see if you can donate your time, talents, or money to help others so you can have the best memories for yourself and others this Christmas Season.
By setting a Christmas budget to reduce Christmas spending, you may find you don't wake up in the New Year in debt and stressed. Have fun this Christmas season and reduce Christmas spending.
